Asymmetrical Anxiety Chair

May 2022

Inspired by Japanese design, I created ASYMMETRIC ANXIETY, a functional yet unsettling chair that challenges perceptions. Made from 1.25-inch steel square tubes and a 3/8-inch steel bar, welded into evenly drilled holes, it balances strength with a minimalist aesthetic. Its deliberate asymmetry evokes unease, prompting users to rethink their assumptions before sitting.
